Backflow Valve – Do You Have to Have One?

All commercials buildings  in NJ & NYC must have a backflow device on the incoming water main. A building that also houses other stores such as restaurants, dry cleaners, dentists, etc… need to have a backflow device in place. Backflow devices need to be installed by a licensed plumber. For facilities that require an uninterrupted supply of water, and when it is not possible to provide water service from two separate meters, provisions shall be made for a “parallel installation” of a backflow preventer.
